Job Description:

  • Perform prescribed duties and responsibilities outlined in all Machinist Programmer levels
  • Adhere to applicable quality systems and support the Management System (MAFACT, WCM, ISO-9001)
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvement and WCM initiatives
  • Maintain machine runtimes as per departmental goals
  • Perform to quality standards defined by department
  • Perform and record all required geometry checks at designated intervals
  • Train all aspects of 5x programming and programming principles to ensure smooth transitions and promote a stronger overall department
  • Train all aspects machine operation and machining principles to ensure smooth transitions and promote a stronger overall department
  • Train all aspects of setup and setup principles to ensure smooth transitions and promote a stronger overall department
  • Initiate, participate and educate others in standardized work processes and help create work instructions based on them and everything else learned to date
  • Read, react and make recommendations on work in the scheduling system
  • Notice abnormal conditions in programs and effectively solve the issue
  • Analyze NTF related issues and correct for future circumstances
  • Available and willing to travel as required for training, benchmarking, etc.
  • Work alone on various shifts with minimum supervision
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abide by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promote safety in the workplace
  • Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behaviour
  • Participate in accident/incident investigation process
  • Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards; Ensure work area is kept neat and organized

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma an asset or equivalent experience
  • College diploma / University degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience an asset
  • Experience as a machinist programmer (intermediate) or equivalent programming experience
  • Proficient in 5x programming and programing principles
  • Program and manage multiple jobs at once
  • Work from home to feed programs to the cell to keep machines running during off shift hours
  • A proficiency in the use of:
    • CAM software
    • Verification software
    • Quality checking software
  • Proficient knowledge of the theory and practical application of machining and machining related procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Strong ability to effectively problem solve
